Connecting OpenRouter

What you need

A Management Key, not a standard API key. OpenRouter's standard keys (the ones starting sk-or-v1-... that you'd use to make model calls) are a different thing from a management key, even though both start with the same prefix. Standard keys can't read billing data; management keys can't make model calls. You need the latter.

Step 1: Get your Management Key from OpenRouter

1. Go to OpenRouter's Management Keys page.
2. Click Create management key.
3. Give it a name you'll recognize later. "TokenFront" is fine.
4. Copy the key immediately. It won't be shown again.

Step 2: Add it to TokenFront

1. Open Connect OpenRouter in TokenFront.
2. Paste the key into the Management key field.
3. Save.

Two things that are just how OpenRouter works

• Only 30 days of history come in on the first sync, not a full year like other platforms. That's a limit on OpenRouter's side, not something TokenFront can pull further back on.
• Today's spend won't show a model or API-key breakdown until tomorrow. OpenRouter only finalizes that level of detail once a day is fully over (UTC time). Until then, TokenFront shows today's running total as a single placeholder number so you're not looking at a blank chart. It gets replaced with the full breakdown automatically after midnight UTC. If today's number looks oddly plain compared to other days, that's why. Nothing's broken.

If the connection shows "Key Error"

Double check the key came from the Management Keys page above rather than your regular OpenRouter API key.
